President Kagame arrives in Brazzaville for Sassou Nguesso inauguration

President Paul Kagame has arrived in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, where he is set to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, following his re-election for a fifth term.

President Kagame landed at Maya-Maya International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, where he was received by Congo’s Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso, in a gesture highlighting the continued diplomatic ties between the two countries.

He is expected to join other African leaders on Thursday, April 16, 2026, for the official swearing-in ceremony of President Sassou Nguesso.

The ceremony will be held at the La Concorde Multipurpose Sports Complex in Kintélé.

Rwanda and the Republic of Congo maintain longstanding bilateral relations, with cooperation spanning key sectors including trade, agriculture, security, and land management.
