OPINION: Liberation created millions of youth’s opportunities

25 years ago, I have seen tremendous achievements in building youth’s resilience through various opportunities that really transform their livelihoods. I remember when I joined primary school in 2003 where education gained a momentum among Rwandan children.

It was my childhood yet, where I could not think of employment but I could always think on my future talent just because I benefited from inclusive education that leaves no one behind, thanks to Good leadership of His Excellency President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame to give equal opportunities for Rwanda’s children in education.

I do not doubt saying that Rwanda’s youth have beaten ignorance and now enjoying the power of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in their education from Primary to High school and Higher Learning Institutions. Here, the One-Laptop per child changed the way education looked like in the past and paved way to ICT-advanced skills for younger primary children to become the champions of innovations in their future education.

When I joined secondary school, I enjoyed another life where young boys and girls seat together and participate in different games as sisters and brothers without any discrimination and we were allowed to follow options of our choice, which recalled my passion of Hospitality that made me who I am today.

Yes, I am in Hospitality as my dream since my childhood could orient me in this industry and no one among my relatives has ever been into this career. I said that liberation created millions of opportunities for Rwanda’s youths because in the past, many youths of my age could end their lives without realizing their dreams and again, this is due to good leadership of the country as of today thousands of youths are self-employed, others built on available opportunities and created innovations and jobs for fellow youths.

From the liberation we have got, my dream is to help Rwandan community to create and enjoy further opportunities by tackling major challenges youth still experiencing such as drug abuse, delinquency among others.
