Bishop Kayinamura re-elected to lead Methodist church for next 6-year mandate

The annual conference of the Free Methodist Church in Rwanda that was held on 15th and 16th of July 2022 in Kigali confirmed the second six-year mandate of Bishop Samuel Kayinamura who was elected by the congregation.
The Official declaration of the re-elected Bishop took place at Free Methodist Church in Rwanda, Gikondo-Kicukiro on Sunday, July 17, 2022. 
Various Bishops from the EAC region participated to this holly ceremony.
Bishop Kayinamura said he will continue to implement responsibilities especially in the area of Education, Health and welfare of Christians and Rwandans in general.
The church’s mission is telling the good news through five pillars namely worship, education, health, social development and Christians’ welfare.
“The Free Methodist Church in Rwanda has achieved a lot since its establishment in 1942. In education and health for instance we have made a tremendous achievement. In the beginning, we used to teach people from down-trees as there were no classrooms, the same as healthcare, we did not have health centers and equipment, now we have Kibogora Polytechnic campus and Kibogora Hospital in Nyamasheke District. These are the efforts of the church.” Kayinamura said.
In the next mandate, the church will build a cathedral that will cost over Rwf 800 Million.
Judith Kazaire, Head of Civil Society and Political Organisations Department at Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) lauded efforts by the church to mobilize Christians to participate in different national programs.
She urged the new church leadership to move the ideas from papers to actions and achieve a lot during the new term of six years.
“I wish that your planned activities can be implementable, from the papers to actions, I also appreciate one of your pillars of decentralization of capacity and leadership to the citizens as this complements the national pillars that puts the interests of a citizen at the forefront.” Kazaire said.
Bishop Deogratias Nshimiyimana, President of Free Methodist Church World Council of Bishops who is based in Burundi and Burundian by nationality recommended the elected Bishop to advance activities basing on the current environment.
“We expect the elected leader to continue leading the church basing on current era, we wish that more achievements can be celebrated in the next six years.” He said.
The Free Methodist Church in Rwanda was born in 1942 and is now 80 years old. As of now, the church has over 500,000 Christians.
