Nyanza: A Teacher Suspected of Attempting Suicide

A secondary school teacher is suspected of attempting suicide after struggling with personal issues for some time.
The incident occurred in Nyanza District, Busoro Sector, Shyira Cell, in Gahogo Village.
According to information gathered by UMUSEKE, Hakizimana Jean Paul, a 38-year-old teacher at Groupe Scolaire (G.S) Gitovu, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming a pesticide. However, he was rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving medical care.
Emmanuel Harindintwari, the head of G.S Gitovu in Busoro Sector, Nyanza District, confirmed hearing about the incident but noted that further details could be obtained from the medical facility where the teacher is being treated.
He stated, “I also heard about this incident. For more information, it would be best to inquire from the hospital where he is receiving care.”
People familiar with the teacher revealed that he began teaching at G.S Gitovu on November 4, 2024, after transferring from G.S Katarara in Ntyazo Sector, Nyanza.
One suspected cause of the incident is marital conflict between the teacher and his wife.
Hakizimana was immediately taken to Busoro Health Center for medical attention and remains under care there.
