Ngoma: Governor Rubingisa Consoles Genocide Survivors During Nduwamungu’s Burial

Pauline Nduwamungu, who was recently killed through a brutal beheading, was laid to rest on Thursday in a ceremony where survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi were reassured of their safety and security.

The burial took place in Rukumberi Sector, where she had lived.

The ceremony was attended by various leaders, including the Governor of the Eastern Province, Pudence Rubingisa, officials from the Rwanda Defense Force, Rwanda National Police, and the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), as well as representatives from IBUKA, her family, friends, and neighbors.

Her eldest child, Francine Mizero, expressed the family’s deep sorrow over the loss of their mother, describing her as a person who loved and cared for others.

Governor Rubingisa extended his condolences to the bereaved family, emphasizing that those responsible for her death would face justice.

He also reassured survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi living in Rukumberi Sector, affirming that their safety remains a priority.

“I commend the security forces for continuing to ensure the safety of Genocide survivors. No one will disrupt your peace,” he said.

He further noted, “At 66 years old, Nduwamungu was still contributing significantly to the development of the country. Her untimely death has caused us a great loss. We will continue to support her family and stand by them during this difficult time.”

Pauline Nduwamungu is survived by three children and five grandchildren.
