Meet Chenosis, a cross-industry API marketplace showcasing innovative platform at MWC Kigali 2023

Chenosis, a cross-industry API marketplace that enables developers, entrepreneurs and businesses to integrate into the fastest-growing library of open APIs is participating at the second edition of Mobile World Congress (MWC) Kigali 2023 from October 17-19, 2023.

The MWC Kigali 2023 was officiated by His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.

One of the subjects under discussion in this congress is the mobile internet usage gap and how internet connectivity can drive development of Africans.

According to Yolanda Kope, Senior Digital Chief Revenue Officer at Chenosis, the Platform has evolved from Application Programming Interface (APIs) marketplace where they use MTN datasets as they are a company owned by MTN.

“Part of the MTN 2025 strategy ambition is to evolve and not be just a talk about their code, and that means that they needed to incubate some of companies’ platforms such as Chenosis We started off with n API marketplace because we are building API using MTN datasets and, to take to business and those APIs.” Yolanda explains.

“We are around mobile identity, contactability and preventing fraud. But we soon realized that it is great as that is so much more stake and opportunity in the African landscape, because people want to build solutions without necessarily knowing how to code, so, what we do is that we enable platforms and tools so that any person who is a developer and non-developer, entrepreneur in business can tape into these platforms, to be able to do businesses,” she adds.

Chenosis helps people having e-commerce platforms to develop their businesses in a cheaper and faster manner.

Yolanda said participating in the Mobile World Congress (MWC)Kigali-2023 is important for Chenosis as an enabler to their digital progress in the african landscape.

“It is most importantly to be at the place where all the players are, to be able to be consistently share the same messaging and to b in the global footprint to understand what chemosis does, so, we hope that we will be in touch with other providers,” yolanda said.

Commenting on the factors to mobile internet using gap in Africa, yolanda said that $108 billion opportunities are in the African landscape regarding digital technologies and e-commerce. However, there is knowledge gap and lack of ability among the people to know that such solutions exist and how these things have been seen before.

“They were made to feel like they are out of reach, you could not access them as an SME, you felt their price was not right, but what we have done, we have democratized that by bringing solutions to the people, making them unexclusive or inaccessible, that is how we want to bridge the gap and ensure that we drive usage and affordability. This is quite key because people want to scale and extend their business,” said Yolanda.

She encourages young innovators, both girls and boys, coders and non-coders as well as entrepreneurs to potentialize in what they do with a positive change and prosperity.
