Letshego Rwanda joins communities for ‘Umuganda’, donates Health Insurance

Employees of Letshego Rwanda Plc, on Saturday, joined residents and local communities at Kibagabaga cell, Kimironko sector, Gitarama cell in Muhanga and Rwebeye cell in Musanze district for October, 2022 Community development work ‘Umuganda’.

The company employees remain committed to making a difference in the communities where they operate, so the day saw the team complete the renovation of a home in Gitarama cell, as well as give 150 residents free access to medical care and support with Health Insurance cards.

The initiative coincided with Letshego Rwanda Plc’s 10 years of improving lives in Rwanda.

Letshego Rwanda Plc is a deposit taking microfinance licensed by National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) and in 2022 celebrates 10 years of improving lives in Rwanda.

Elaborating on the rationale of the donation, Letshego Rwanda Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Muketha, said that they are passionate about people and supporting the communities where they operate.

“Today is one of the ways Letshego employees come together to help vulnerable people in our communities. Our personal health and wellbeing is a precious commodity, and we hope by giving out 150 medical cards, we can help ensure members of our community remain in good health so they too can support their own families and fellow members of our communities.” Muketha noted.

Speaking at the handover of health insurance cards, the Executive Secretary of Kimironko Sector, Umuhoza Rwabukumba said: “’Mutuelle de Sante’/Health Insurance is a government programme that aims to transform the lives of Rwandans. Health insurance provides greater access to medical care and support – we wish to do all we can to ensure the health and wellbeing of our people is prioritised for the greater benefit of our families and community,”

Letshego’s employee volunteer programme sees employees working together in local communities one weekend, every month to fulfil a need or provide support for local communities.

The company commits to giving back to the communities that have supported and partnered with brand for 10 years.
