KOICA donates equipment to promote Music Education in Rwanda

On November 8th, 2021, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Rwanda, which is the aid agency of the Korean government, handed over to Rwanda Basic Education Board 330 teacher’s training books on piano skills, 2 pianos and 1 Soft keyboard piano in addition to 140 bottles of hand sanitizers.

In addition, 225 books and 360 hand sanitizers will be donated to three private primary schools;75 books and 120 hand sanitizers to Saint.

Jacob school in Kigali and same amount to Ngoma Primary School and Ngoma Adventist Primary School in Huye District within this week.

This donation is aligned with the KOICA’s continuous cooperation with the Government of Rwanda to promote music education in Rwanda.

KOICA has dispatched Korean music education volunteers to Rwanda, trained music master trainers at the national level and conducted music awareness campaigns across the country in good collaboration with Rwanda Basic Education Board.

Dr. Nelson MBARUSHIMANA, the Director General of Rwanda Basic Education Board stated that the donation will boost teaching and learning ability through music education in Rwanda as the curriculum under revision puts some emphasis on music subject.
“I am grateful of the KOICA continuous supports in education and much convinced that the present donation will contribute to enhancing education because when is well used in class, music not only contributes to teaching and learning improvement, but also opens the soul”, He said.
Apart from KOICA’s contribution to music education in Rwanda, KOICA Rwanda has contributed to sustainable development of Rwanda by providing grants to the development projects in ICT, Agriculture and Education Sector, but also it has dispatched more than 400 Korean volunteers to Rwanda in different sectors through its volunteer program, called World Friends Korea and implemented other different development programs since its establishment in Rwanda, 2011.
