The lemon (Citrus limon) is a species of small evergreen tree in the flowering plant family Rutaceae, native to Asia, primarily Northeast India (Assam), Northern Myanmar or China. The tree’s ellipsoidal yellow fruit is used for culinary and non-culinary purposes throughout the world

Benefits

Lemon is a good source of Vitamin C and phytonutrients. These have antioxidant properties which help in reducing the risks of cancer.

The vitamin C present in lemon is also effective in improving skin quality, it helps to reduce skin wrinkling and dryness from aging.

Lemon aids with digestion, drinking warm water with lemon every morning helps with digestive system movements.

Possible side effects

Lemon is highly acidic and can cause skin irritations. Common symptoms include excessive dryness, redness and skin peeling.

Quantity recommendations

Lemon can aid to a healthy wellbeing. It is recommended that a person adds three-forth of a cup of lemon juice to water per day.
