Eric Omondi, the renowned Kenyan comedian, has been appointed as the host of The Silver Gala, scheduled for November 1, 2025, at BK Arena in Kigali. Organized by the Sherrie Silver Foundation, the event aims to support children under the foundation’s care, while raising significant funds for educational and healthcare initiatives for vulnerable children.

Omondi’s journey into the limelight began in 2006 when he joined Churchill Show, a popular Kenyan comedy program hosted by Daniel “Churchill” Ndambuki. His unique style and relatable humor quickly resonated with audiences, propelling him to national fame. In 2017, he made history by becoming the first Kenyan comedian to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, showcasing his talent on an international stage.

Over the years, Omondi has expanded his reach through various platforms, including stand-up comedy, television shows, and viral social media content. His satirical and musical comedy videos on YouTube have gained a massive following, with over 550,000 subscribers. He has also been recognized with multiple awards, including three consecutive African Entertainment Awards USA for ‘Best Comedian’ in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Beyond comedy, Omondi is  an entrepreneur. He has invested in various business ventures, including a recording studio and an aircraft, signaling his ambition to diversify his income streams.

Omondi is the second-born in a family of four siblings. He has been open about his personal life, including his experiences with fatherhood. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he shared his journey of raising his son as a single parent, emphasizing the challenges and joys of doing so independently.

Known for his bold stance on social issues, Omondi has been an active voice in advocating for change in Kenya. In 2023, he led protests against the high cost of living and unemployment, demonstrating his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by ordinary Kenyans. His activism extends to supporting families in need; for instance, he visited the family of the late Boniface Kariuki in Murang’a to offer support during a challenging time.

Omondi continues to make waves in the entertainment industry. He is set to host The Silver Gala on November 1, 2025, at BK Arena in Kigali. The event, organized by the Sherrie Silver Foundation, aims to support children under the foundation’s care, raising funds for educational and healthcare initiatives. The gala will feature performances from top East African artists, including Butera Knowless, Massamba Intore, Ross Kana, Chriss Eazy, and Sherrie Silver.
