Gasabo: Love With Actions Celebrates Christmas with children with disabilities and their parents

Love with actions (LWA) Organization shared Christmas with 49 families of children with disabilities, and bid farewell to eighteen children who recovered from different disabilities.

The ceremony that aims at helping children with disabilities and their parents to celebrate the 2021 Christmas in joy and happiness took place at LWA headquarters in Bumbogo sector, Gasabo district on December 24, 2021 where the Organization donated food and mattresses to all children.

The ceremony fully respected the prevention measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 that is a global issue.

“We had been celebrating other Christmas events with parties, and children and parents would eat, dance, and become happy, but due to this pandemic, of which the whole world is fighting, today, we haven’t had celebrations, however, we have given them gifts comprising of a mattress and food for every child.” Said Gilbert Kubwimana, Founder and Executive Director of LWA.

Liberatha Nyiragwaneza, the mother of Eric Nshimiyimana is one of the beneficiaries.

“I am totally overwhelmed by joy after joining this Organization until this Christmas season, I am extremely very happy, and I am truly very receptive towards Christmas, and in addition to that, what has made me happy is the donation of a mattress, my children will be sleeping on the mattress.” Nyiragwaneza said.

Alphonsine Abayisenga, another beneficiary, mother of Ephter said: “When I brought my child here, she had a leg problem, she couldn’t move, when I reached, they admitted her and started treating her, and today they have given me gifts when they are bidding her farewell, so as to get space for accommodating others, and I am going with the gifts of a mattress and food, I am very thankful.” She said.

The agony in a year

Though it was happiness and sharing with 2021 Christmas with 49 families, (LWA) paid tribute to the family which lost a child who was under their support, the child died in November 2021.

“It’s too much agony, since the commencement of Love With Actions, 4 years ago, we received these children who were facing many problems regarding health. Since we started, we have lost 6 children, and the one we lost recently MUTESI QUEEN is the sixth one, it is one of the issues that pain us, because we do whatever we can, but the most depressing to us is burying him/her, despite all the efforts we apply, it’s very painful.” Said Gilbert Kubwimana.

Bidding recovered children farewell

Gilbert Kubwimana said that the decision to bid these children farewell was taken after they have recovered.

“We decided to bid them farewell so that a space for other children who need treatment can be available, as a way receiving Jesus’ generosity, the Organization’s obligation is to care for families with disabilities, as well as their families, through advocacy, health and inclusive education.” Kubwimana said.

The children whom were bidden farewell by Love With Action (LWA) will continue to get support regarding education and health care.

Kubwimana urges parents and the community in general to help them so that they may live happily.

“I can’t say that we have bidden them farewell forever, because we will continue to care for them, because we will be paying their school fees, as well as making advocacy on their behalf, and we have assured them our continued support, for instance when their moving devices are worn out or deformed, walking aids, prostheses, /whenever they get old, in case they are no longer in good condition, we will continue to give them others to make sure they don’t experience any problem.” he said.

LWA Organization thanks every person who had a role in caring for these children with disabilities.

LWA has spent 4 years operating in Gasabo District, Bumbogo Sector, helping the nation by ensuring development, in different activities, including caring for the vulnerable people, by providing them with good accommodation, building for children with disabilities among others.
