Cabo Delgado: Mozambique’s army chief visits Rwandan security forces

Mozambique’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Júlio dos Santos Jane, accompanied by Maj. Gen. André Rafael Mahunguane, Commander of Mozambique’s Land Forces, has visited Rwandan Security Forces (RSF) stationed in Mocímboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado Province.
The visit, conducted on October 30, 2025, aimed to strengthen bilateral military cooperation and coordination between the armed forces of Rwanda and Mozambique.
The delegation was received by Maj. Gen. V. Gatama, Commander of Rwandan Security Forces in Mozambique, along with other senior RSF officers, who briefed them on the current security situation in their area of responsibility.
During the visit, Gen. Jane announced that the joint command center for the Rwandan and Mozambican forces will be relocated from Pemba to Mocímboa da Praia to enhance operational collaboration and coordination.
He urged both Rwandan and Mozambican troops to maintain strong cooperation in order to achieve their shared military objectives.
Gen. Jane also expressed his commitment to continue supporting both countries’ security forces in successfully fulfilling their mission. He commended the remarkable work accomplished by Rwandan and Mozambican troops in combating terrorism in Cabo Delgado and praised the RSF for their significant contribution to restoring peace and stability in the region.
