Angolan basketball giants Petro de Luanda have secured a place in the final of the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) after edging Libya’s Al Ahly Benghazi 94-88 in a thrilling semi-final clash held at BK Arena in Kigali.
The highly anticipated encounter took place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the presence of President Paul Kagame alongside top BAL and NBA Africa officials, adding more prestige to the continental tournament currently underway in Rwanda.
Petro de Luanda showcased composure and championship experience throughout the game, controlling key moments despite strong resistance from Al Ahly Benghazi, who attempted a late comeback in the closing stages.
The Angolan side eventually held firm to seal a 94-88 victory and book their place in the BAL final for the fourth time, underlining their dominance and consistency in African club basketball.
With the win, Petro de Luanda will now face Rwanda’s RSSB Tigers BBC in what promises to be a historic and electrifying final scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026, at BK Arena.
