The Agrodealer Champion Program, a new initiative by Rwanda Fertilizer Company Ltd (RFC), has been launched to empower agricultural input distributors and enhance fertilizer access for farmers.
At its inaugural event, RFC awarded three top-performing agrodealers with cargo motorcycles, known as Lifan, to improve fertilizer delivery to remote farming communities. Seven other input dealers and ten outstanding farmers were also recognized for their contributions to advancing agricultural practices.
RFC CEO Anass Khanchoufi underscored the program’s importance in strengthening partnerships and promoting sustainable farming practices.
“This initiative celebrates the dedication of our partners while addressing critical needs in agriculture. By providing tools and training, we ensure farmers get timely access to quality inputs, paving the way for better yields and long-term sustainability,” he said.
Among the beneficiaries, Epimaque Barihenda, a fertilizer distributor, expressed gratitude, stating that the motorcycle would significantly boost his ability to deliver fertilizers more efficiently.
“With this support, I can now reach more farmers quickly, ensuring they have what they need to succeed,” Barihenda remarked.
Nyiramuhanda Angelique, another awardee from Nyagatare District, praised RFC for equipping her with resources and knowledge.
“The training on proper fertilizer use has been invaluable. It will help us guide farmers in applying fertilizers effectively for maximum productivity,” she said.
RFC, established in partnership with Morocco’s OCP Africa, the Government of Rwanda, Agaciro Development Fund, and Agro-Processing Trust Corporation, operates from the Bugesera Industrial Park. Since its launch in December 2023, the facility has produced 100,000 tons of fertilizer annually, playing a critical role in supporting Rwanda’s agricultural sector.
The Agrodealer Champion Program is poised to become an annual event, bridging gaps in the agricultural input supply chain and driving Rwanda closer to its goal of sustainable agricultural development.
