Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente has expressed his gratitude to President Paul Kagame for renewing his trust by reappointing him to his position, assuring the President of his continued commitment to advancing Rwanda’s development.

On August 13, 2024, President Kagame reappointed Dr. Ngirente as the Prime Minister of Rwanda, a role he has held since August 30, 2017.

Dr. Ngirente said, “With deep appreciation, I thank His Excellency, President Paul Kagame, for once again entrusting me with the role of Prime Minister. I assure you of my unwavering dedication and commitment to the journey of advancing Rwanda.”

During his presidential campaign in Gakenke District on July 11, 2024, President Kagame urged the citizens to support Dr. Ngirente so he could effectively fulfill his duties.

He said, “I was told that the Prime Minister is from here in Gakenke. Has he been a Prime Minister for nothing? Won’t you support him so we can work together to ensure that the services you need are delivered swiftly?”

President Kagame made these remarks after a resident of Gakenke expressed pride in having the Prime Minister originate from their region, specifically from Mbilima Village in Coko Sector.

It is expected that within 15 days of the appointment of the Prime Minister, the President will appoint the members of the government, including ministers and state ministers.
