Nyaruguru: World Bank funded classrooms completed

Nyaruguru district has inaugurated classrooms that were constructed under the support of World Bank.

The 71 classrooms and 96 latrines were constructed to reduce classroom congestion.

This will also solve the issue of students who used to walk many kilometres going to so far away schools due to lack of space in their areas.

Alice Kayitesi, the new governor of Southern province lauded those who fast-tracked the classrooms construction and asked parents to fight school dropouts by bringing all their children to school when academic year opens in September.

“ Due to coronavirus students were locked in their homes. Now we urge parents to send back all children to school when academic year resumes in September,” she said.

Before school closure, primary schools in Nyaruguru district had 71, 575 students with 1,006 classrooms.

This means every classroom was hosting 71 students which is not in line with international education standards.
