UTB Graduands urged to fully explore Rwanda’s tourism and hospitality industry

Over 500 Graduates from the University of Tourism, Technologies and Business Studies (UTB) have been awarded certificates and urged to effectively cover the labour market in local Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

The call was made by Mrs Zulfat Mukarubega, the founder of UTB during the graduation ceremony on Thursday May 24, 2018 at Kigali Convention Center where she advised graduates to go out there and use acquired skills and occupy the whole Rwandan tourism and hospitality labour market to reduce foreigners’ dominance.

“I wish you to become very important persons on behalf of yourself, your families and for the nation. This will require your efforts in implementing the skills you required from the University, strive to build your country as youth who also recovered Rwanda, foreigners are working the jobs you might do in creating Businesses in Rwanda, why not you should not reduce such a dominance by creating more jobs in the industry?”

Dr.Wim Kouwenhoven, UTB Chancellor assigned the graduates to be the light of their families, their nation as well as the world by contributing their efforts in whatever they should, creating the world of zero poverty and unemployment.

“The world of today has many problems all falling in poverty and unemployment, go and create a different world from this one, without poverty and unemployment. I assure you that the world will be better once the word ‘unemployment’ is forgotten,” Kouwenhoven said.

Cyril Ndegeya, the best graduate from UTB’s International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that they are ready to create the new world of effective employment and compete with foreigners on Rwandan labour market.

UTB has over 5000 students, 3400 in Kigali and 1800 in Rubavu-Gisenyi campus. It has various disciplines, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business and Information Technology and those from (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) TVET Programmes.
