RwandAir has been recognised for its customer service after winning the award for Best Airline Staff Service in Africa at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The national carrier received the award on Friday, September 18, 2026, from Skytrax, the organisation that recognises leading airlines and airports around the world.

The 2026 awards ceremony was held in London, United Kingdom, bringing together executives from airlines and aviation companies from around the world.

In a statement, RwandAir attributed the achievement to the combined efforts of its employees and passengers.

“To our passengers, thank you for choosing us and trusting us with your journeys, giving us the opportunity to welcome you and share the beauty of our country,” the airline said.

“To our exceptional team, thank you for the warmth, professionalism and dedication you demonstrate on every flight, in every operation, and in the way you welcome and care for each passenger. This award belongs to you as well.”

At the 2025 World Airline Awards, RwandAir was named Africa’s leading airline.

This year, Singapore Airlines was named the world’s best airline, replacing Qatar Airways, which had previously held the top position. Qatar Airways, which has a partnership with RwandAir, ranked second, followed by Cathay Pacific in third place, ANA All Nippon Airways in fourth and Turkish Airlines in fifth.

In Africa, Ethiopian Airlines retained the top position, marking the ninth consecutive year the airline has received the award.

RwandAir began operations on December 1, 2002, under the name Rwandair Express. In 2009, the airline changed its name to RwandAir, which it continues to use today.

The airline has expanded rapidly in recent years, operating flights to destinations across Africa, Asia and Europe.

Its fleet includes Boeing 737-800NG, Boeing 737-700NG, Bombardier Q400NG and Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
