NESA to launch awareness campaign on Programme For International Student Assessment (PISA)
By The Inspirer
The Ministry of Education, through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), is set to officially launch an awareness campaign on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2025.
The campaign will run from March 17 to April 6, and will resume from April 15 to April 26, 2025.
This initiative aims to educate key stakeholders in the education sector, including students, teachers, parents, and school administrators, about the international assessment that will take place in Rwanda from April 27 to June 7, 2025.
The campaign will focus on raising awareness about PISA’s significance, its role in assessing the country’s education system, and how it helps compare Rwandan students’ academic performance with their peers worldwide.
The official launch event will be held at ES Kanombe/EFOTEC on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
What is PISA?
PISA is an international assessment designed to evaluate how well 15-year-old students can apply their knowledge in reading, mathematics, and science to real-life situations. It measures their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The assessment was introduced in 1997 by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and has been conducted every three years since 2000 in over 80 countries.
For the first time, Rwanda will be participating in the PISA assessment.
