Nduhungirehe delivers Kagame’s message to Saudi leadership in Riyadh talks

Olivier Nduhungirehe has conveyed a message from President Paul Kagame to the leadership of Saudi Arabia during high-level talks held in Riyadh, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

The Minister held discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, where he formally delivered the presidential message addressed to King Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

According to Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks focused on strengthening long-standing relations between the two countries, with emphasis on investment, infrastructure development, and energy cooperation.

Both sides also explored additional areas of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to expanding economic and diplomatic ties.

Rwanda and Saudi Arabia have in recent years significantly strengthened relations, underpinned by growing political engagement, trade, and development cooperation.

On February 24, 2026, President Kagame received Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji in Kigali, where discussions also centered on expanding bilateral cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries have expanded steadily over the past eight years, supported by the establishment of embassies in Kigali and Riyadh, which have facilitated regular high-level exchanges.

Saudi Arabia has emerged as a key partner for Rwanda, particularly in agriculture exports such as fruits and vegetables, while also attracting investment in tourism, energy, aviation, and agribusiness.

The two governments signed a new cooperation agreement in 2021, building on earlier diplomatic frameworks established in 2018, further consolidating bilateral relations and opening new avenues for partnership.
