KOICA and KORAA members share knowledge on agriculture for sustainable development of Rwanda

KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) which is the aid agency of the Korean government and KORAA (KOICA Rwanda Alumni Association) held ‘KORAA Virtual Knowledge Sharing Conference on Agriculture’ at July 8th 2021.

The virtual conference was planned as the second KORAA activity this year, and it was aimed to introduce the KOICA’s agriculture programs in Rwanda as well as share practical knowledge for the agriculture sector by KOICA staff and KORAA members.

Around 30 participants for the conference were mainly public officers, civil society organization staffs, professionals working in the agriculture sector in Rwanda. They could understand more about the KOICA’s agriculture development strategies and acquire practical knowledge that can be applied to their professional works.

KORAA is an association that consists of Rwandan public officers who participated in KOICA’s invitation training program called CIAT (Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow). There are currently 738 KORAA members who are carrying out different activities for the sustainable development of Rwanda by using their knowledge and skills they acquired from the CIAT program.

The CIAT program provides various curriculums tailor made to different expertise of public officers in more than 60 Korea’s partner countries including Rwanda.

Apart from the virtual knowledge sharing conference, KORAA members and KOICA already handed over 700 hand sanitizers and 2,000 face masks which are equivalent to RWF 8 million to 31 schools in Rwanda from April 2021. KORAA members will continue their dedication to the sustainable development of Rwanda with KOICA.

This year, further KORAA’s activities will be also carried out such as community development works, public lecturing for local communities, etc.
