Graduates at ERM-Hope TVET School Kabuga commit to produce for community needs

Over 240 students graduated at ERM Hope TVET School Kabuga on March 6th, 2020 with a hope to invest into the community needs.

Speaking to the media after the graduation ceremony, Frederic Bizimana, one of the graduates who acquired 12-months training in culinary arts said hard working is the best thing he will put forward in his future career.

“I gained culinary arts training 0f one year from this school and I want to continue to level 4 of the University. I have dreams to work in a hotel or being an entrepreneur.” Bizimana said.

Claudine Mukantwali, also a graduate from ERM in Culinary arts said the skills she acquired will start giving outcomes from her home, preparing delicious food for her husband and will use it in fighting malnutrition that is a burden Rwandan Community still encounter.

“The skills of culinary arts I gained are very crucial in terms of handling community needs. For the sake of development of our country that looks for addressing malnutrition, I encourage my fellow youth to join this profession,” she said.

ERM TVET School started in 1996 as an orphan school and in 2008 was the time to establish a VTC School in line with helping children raise practical skills in different disciplines.

Testimonies of neighboring citizens also state that this school came on time it was needed by the community.

Philomene Nyiraneza, Executive Secretary of Gako cell of Masala Sector in Kicukuro District where the school is located said that the school provides skills which are in line with the government vision of self-employment.

“Vocational training skills are in line with the government policies. This school boosted partnership with parents and helped the community to put forward the spirit of work.” Nyiraneza said.

Pastor Emmanuel Sitaki Kayinamura, Founder and President of ERM Rwanda said that graduates are in three categories as some of them got 3months training where they gained skills to refresh their knowledge on vocational trainings, others gained 6months trainings which also was their need to boost the skills they had had before joining while the third category are the students who acquired 12month vocational training in different professions such as carpentry, masonry, sewing, culinary arts and hair dressing.

“We also plan to have Mechanics in the near future considering parent’s request.”

Kayinamura said that the school assists students to find places for their industrial attachments where the big number get jobs within same institutions.

“We also follow them and see their progress after graduation especially when they are going to create jobs and we give them further pieces of advice.” He added.

Corky Morse, one of the school’s donors said that she always has emotion to help education growth whereby with her institution Rwanda Rise, encourage their fellow partners from the United States to collect funds and give to some schools in developing countries including Rwanda.
