Gasabo: Women benefit from PFTH fund to boost their businesses

Profemmes Twese Hamwe (PFTH) has given support of over Rwf51Million to women from three sectors of Gasabo District namely, Kimironko, Remera and Gisozi to help them expand their businesses.
This support was donated on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 as PFTH kicks of a week-long campaign, themed: ‘Together in solidarity, for woman’s self- realization in peace and development’ to celebrate 30 years of its services in promoting gender equality and women development in Rwanda.

The campaign launch took place at Gasabo District Headquarters, bringing together different officials and stakeholders of the district.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of the fund, Jeanne D’Arc Uwantege, former street vendor, appreciates the financial support they got, saying it will help to transform women livelihoods.
“It is our warm pleasure to thank PFTH and its partners who work tirelessly to promote women development, this fund will help us to take our businesses to an outstanding level in the near future,” she said.

Beneficiaries of this fund have created associations that will be transformed into cooperatives and companies to practice effective trade.
Jacqueline Kamanzi Masabo, Executive Secretary of Rwanda Women Council advised women to think beyond small projects in order to build development for their families.
“Let us work together and think beyond, we need to think on different income generating projects to build our development with our families,” she said.

Kamanzi advised women to have a culture of saving by using ICT and to work with banks and Microfinance Institutions to expand their businesses.
Since its establishment in 1992, PFTH has strived to change socio-economic status of women and to promote the culture of peace for sustainable development through coordination and capacity building of member associations.
