Gasabo: Inkurunziza church pays health insurance for 487 Vulnerable citizens

487 needy citizens from 97 families from Rusororo sector in Gasabo district were given free health insurance by officials of Inkurunziza church located in Gasagara village, Gasagara cell in Rusororo sector.

This activity has taken place on Friday, August, 6, 2021 where current vulnerable Christians and the general neighbouring communities benefited from it.

Yvette Mukamuganga, one of the beneficiaries is a Christian from Inkurunziza church who caters for the family of four dependants. She expresses joy after having the support of health insurance from the church, saying that a good church is a gift from God.

“I did not have financial capacity to pay health insurance as I survive upon part time jobs, praise be the Lord who gave us good leaders, they try to help us even in the period of Covid-19 pandemic. I have planned to pay half of the amount of health insurance for my dependants but this is an opportunity as I will use the amount I saved to be able to pay the next contribution.” She said.

Inkurunziza church is located in Cyabatanzi Parise. The church used to support the Christians with various opportunities including free training in hands on skills in Vocational Training mainly in Tailoring, social assistance through small agricultural and livestock associations, saving groups, etc.

Pastor Martin Nzabandora, the Shepherd of Inkurunziza church said that this initiative targeted vulnerable citizens of the neighbouring area of the church including the Christians.

He explained that beneficiaries constitute people of the second Ubudehe category.

Helping the needy to help themselves

“Such an initiative raises good testimonies of the church out there in the community and retrieves the love of people towards the church’s good worship. Besides this activity, we gave a land to the group of 12 widowers, we provided small livestock (chickens and goats) to other Christians. We have also established and supported 8 saving groups working here at the church premises to help both Christians and the general community to tackle the basic needs.” Nzabandora noted.

Pastor Lambert Ruzindana, General Secretary of Inkurunziza Church said that they will continue to advocate for this initiative by mobilizing other churches to support vulnerable Christians and the communities around their preaching places.
