Court postpones verdict in Rwamagana nurse’s wife murder case

The High Council Court sitting in Ngoma has postponed the reading of the verdict in a murder case involving a nurse accused of having played a role in the killing of his wife, a primary school teacher who was brutally murdered in June 2025.

The decision was announced on Friday, December 12, 2025, when residents of Kigabiro Sector in Rwamagana District had gathered to attend the scheduled verdict reading in the case against Maniriho Faustin.

Maniriho is accused of plotting the murder of his wife, Murekatete Jacqueline, a teacher at G.S. Rwamagana Protestant. She was killed on the night of June 26, 2025, after her throat was slit at her home.

Two other suspects, Manishimwe Ally Sareh, commonly known as Babalao, and Kwizera Dieudonné, are also charged in connection with the case. Prosecutors allege that the two carried out the killing as part of a plan organized by Maniriho.

As the public awaited the court’s decision, the presiding judge announced that the verdict had been postponed following a request from the Prosecution, which indicated that additional forensic evidence was still pending.

According to the court, the evidence is expected from the Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI) and is considered important for the final determination of the case.

The judge instructed the Prosecution to submit the forensic report to the case file no later than Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

The case is scheduled to resume on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., when the accused will return to court to respond to questions related to the new evidence. The court noted that the verdict could be delivered on the same day.

The trial of Maniriho Faustin and his co-accused was last heard on December 9, 2025.
