ABH holds inspirational discussions that shape youth business ideas

Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) has organized fruitful discussions led by entrepreneur experts across the continent to inspire young innovators and business creators.

The event, which introduces the announcement of the top three winners of the Grand Finale is taking place in Kigali, alongside the 5th ABH’s Anniversary.

It brought together 1,000 African entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem players from across the continent.

Zahra Baitie-Boateng, Head of Partnerships and Programs, Africa’s Business Heroes in his speech on November 23, 2023, during the opening of these discussions, said that the celebration of a five-year journey toward the realization of Mr. Ma’s commitment and the achievements they have made along the way means a lot for African business growth.

“But it’s also so much more than that…. It’s a chance for us, as ABH, alongside our community to reflect on who we are and where we’re going,” Boateng said.

“Over the next two days, we are bringing the best of this community to the fore. At the Summit today, we’ve drawn on our community of Heroes, Judges, Partners, and friends to bring you a summit like no other,” she added.

Some young university students who are participating in the event have found it an opportunity to learn and network with the experts, thus enhancing their capacity to pitch business projects in order to secure funding.

Samuel Mugisha, a student at IPRC Gishari in Year 2 expresses his gain from the ABH Entrepreneur workshop saying: “I have come here for two major reasons: one is to learn how to pitch project ideas to the investors or funders, secondly, I wanted to network and keep that connection. during the first session of panel discussions, I have learned how to prepare a pitch deck and how to avoid committing some errors that can deprive you of an opportunity to get funded,” he says, adding that he has already a project that is still a prototype, aiming to mitigate the impacts of the climate change.

Idara Patrick, another young student at the African Leadership University said that besides the knowledge to pitch business ideas, she has learned how convincing ideas and time calculation could help to establish relationships when doing the exercise of project pitching.

“I want to be an entrepreneur in the Tech sector, and when I start my own company, the skills got from this workshop will help me a lot. I want to learn from people and know what made them succeed or fail and learn how to avoid failure situations,” she said.

The 2023 African Business Heroes Grand Finale and award ceremony will be celebrated on November 24, 2023, witnessing top entrepreneurs competing in real-time for the esteemed title of Africa’s Business Hero and their share of USD 1.5 million unrestricted grant funding.
