Day Two of UCI Road World Championships in Kigali Features U23 Riders

September 22 marks the second day of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, featuring Under-23 men’s and women’s categories.

Unlike the opening day, which focused on elite riders, today’s competition not only highlights the younger age group but also introduces slight changes to the race route.

A total of 110 riders will line up — 61 men and 49 women. Rwanda’s Claudette Nyirarukundo, 22, will be the first to start the women’s race at 10:51 a.m. Nyirarukundo rides for Team Amani (Kenya). She will be joined by fellow Rwandan Jazillah Mwamikazi, representing Ndabaga Women Cycling Team.

In the men’s category, Rwandan cyclist Etienne Tuyizere will be the first to roll off at 1:50 p.m. from BK Arena. He will compete alongside Samuel Niyonkuru, who also represents Rwanda but rides for Team Amani (Kenya).

Today’s route will begin at BK Arena, passing through Kimironko (Simba Supermarket), Rwahama, Chez Lando, Prince House, Sonatube, Nyanza, and Gahanga Market. Riders will then return via the same road to Sonatube, continue to Rwandex, Kanogo, then head to Mediheal, Women Foundation Ministries (Kwa Mignone), Ku Muvunyi, and finish at the Kigali Convention Center (KCC).

The final rider is scheduled to depart at 3:50 p.m.
