Donald Trump sworn in as 47th U.S. President, pledges to revive America

Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States following last year’s presidential election victory over Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s candidate.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday in Washington, D.C.

In his speech, Trump declared, “A new era of greatness and wonder begins now.”

“Our nation will prosper and be respected around the world again. We will become a model for all other countries. However, we will no longer allow others to take advantage of us. Every single day of my administration will put America first. Our sovereignty will be restored, our peace will return, the arm of justice will work effectively again, and gun violence will come to an end,” he said.

“Our priority is to build a proud, prosperous, and free nation. Soon, America will become stronger, more powerful, and more exceptional than ever before in its history.”

He added, “To all Americans, January 20, 2025, will be remembered as Independence Day.”

Trump described this election as one of the most significant and impactful in U.S. history. “As our victory shows, the entire nation supports our agenda—young and old, men and women alike,” he said.

Trump expressed gratitude to African Americans, promising not to forget their support and to prioritize addressing their concerns.

“To Black Americans and Latinos, I want to thank you for your love and trust. We broke records together, and I won’t forget that. I heard your voices during the campaign, and I look forward to working with you,” he stated.

“Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. To honor him, we will work together to turn his dreams into reality,” he added.

Trump vowed to combat drug trafficking, saying, “I will declare a state of emergency at our southern border. Illegal immigrants entering our country must be stopped, and we will begin a program to deport millions of criminals to their countries of origin. I will deploy troops to the south to prevent illegal entry into our country.”

He also pledged to curb rising prices: “I will direct my administration to use all its power to fight inflation and reduce market prices. The increase in costs is due to government overspending and the rising cost of energy.”

Trump emphasized America’s energy independence, stating, “We will extract oil from beneath our land and export it worldwide. We will be a wealthy nation again.”

He promised, “We will manufacture more cars in America than ever before.”

Instead of heavily taxing Americans to benefit other countries, he said, “We will increase tariffs on other nations to benefit our citizens.”

Trump also announced plans to abolish programs supporting gender reassignment, declaring, “From today, the U.S. government will only recognize two genders: male and female.”

He vowed to reinstate military personnel dismissed for refusing COVID-19 vaccinations. Additionally, he stated his intention to end wars: “My legacy will be one of reconciliation. I am pleased to announce that one day before assuming office, hostages in Israel are reuniting with their families.”

Trump expressed his commitment to restoring America’s position as the most respected nation globally. He added plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”

He also said the Panama Canal would be reclaimed by the United States, accusing Panama of charging excessive fees for American ships, including military vessels.

Finally, Trump highlighted plans to enhance research for Mars exploration, a statement that visibly delighted Elon Musk, who attended the event with a smile.
