New Academic Year to Start on September 9

The Ministry of Education has announced the official school calendar for the 2024-2025 academic year, with students set to return to classrooms on September 9. The academic year will run through June 27, 2025.

According to the calendar, the academic year will span 38 weeks. The first term will begin on September 9 and end on December 20, covering 15 weeks.

Following a two-week break, students will return for the second term on January 6, 2025, which will last 13 weeks until April 4. After another two-week break, the third term will commence on April 21 and conclude on June 27, 2025.

This announcement came after the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) released the student travel schedule, aligning with the new academic calendar.

The calendar also outlines the national examination schedule for the year. Primary Leaving Examinations are set to begin on June 30 and end on July 3.

Secondary school students will sit for their national practical examinations from May 19 to June 6, with written exams scheduled from July 9 to July 18.
