RURA Announces Increase in Fuel Pump Prices

Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has made a significant announcement regarding fuel pump prices, effective from Thursday, April 4, for the next two months.

According to RURA’s latest directive, the maximum retail price for gasoline has been set at Rwf1,764 per litre, while the maximum retail price for diesel stands at Rwf1,684 per litre.

This adjustment reflects an increase compared to the previous two months, where gasoline was priced at Rwf1,637 per litre, and diesel at Rwf1,632 per litre.

The decision to revise fuel prices comes amid various factors affecting global oil markets, including fluctuations in crude oil prices and changes in international exchange rates. These factors play a crucial role in determining fuel prices in Rwanda, as the country imports a significant portion of its petroleum products.

RURA’s move to adjust fuel prices is in line with its mandate to regulate and ensure fair pricing practices in the energy sector.

The authority regularly reviews and updates fuel prices to reflect changes in the global market while considering the impact on consumers and the economy.
