KIKAC Music Label started Special Recognition Awards for local music promoters

KIKAC Music record label in partnership with Kalisimbi Events have started recognizing those who for years have been sacrificing themselves to put the Rwandan music industry on the map.

These awards, which are organized as ‘Special Recognition Award’, will be annual and the idea came after realizing the role of media people and promoters in pushing local music especially the young talents.

Last weekend, at Rwanda Television, for the first time, three music industry promoters namely Rukundo Patrick [Patycope], Luckman Nzeyimana and one of the most influential Instagram users in Rwanda, The Cat got their awards.

**A day after, Patrick Rukundo famously known as [Patycope] received his award.**

According to Claude Uhujimfura, the Public Relations and Communications Officer at KIKAC Music, there is no condition or judging team set for selection of who is going to get this award.

In a phone interview with The Inspirer, Claude also narrated that these people are being awarded because of their crucial role in promoting Rwandan music.

“I sat down and looked back at their daily deeds, how they support the music industry, the way our industry is being developed under their influence and thought about which way we can show them how much they are appreciated.” He said.

Founded by three men (Muhamed Kintu, Elijah Kalisimbi and Jean Claude Uhujimfura) from whose names the label derives its name, KIKAC is the music label to which singers Mico The Best and Bwiza are signed.
