By The Inspirer.

A total of 16 cars are expected to compete in the annual Huye Rally, bringing together Rwandan and Ugandan drivers for three days of racing across Huye and Gisagara districts from October 16 to 18, 2026.

The event is the fifth round of Rwanda’s national rally championship this year and could play a decisive role in determining the overall champion.

Of the 16 registered crews, 12 are from Rwanda and four from Uganda. Subaru Impreza cars dominate the entry list, with 14 crews using the model. The remaining entries feature a Mitsubishi Evo X and a Peugeot 106.

One of the drivers to watch is Giancarlo Davite, who leads the national championship after the first four rounds of the season.

Davite, who will compete alongside co-driver Matteo Davite in a Mitsubishi Evo X, has accumulated 134 points, giving him a 64-point lead over second-placed Queen Kalimpinya.

He needs just 10 more points to secure the 2026 national championship title.

The Huye Rally will begin on Friday, October 16, with a spectator stage in Huye town scheduled for 7 p.m., allowing fans to see the competing crews in action.

On Saturday, October 17, the competition will move to roads in Kibirizi and Gisagara from midday, followed by night stages along the Rango and Kibirizi routes.

The final day, Sunday, October 18, will feature stages on roads around Save before the winners of the 2026 edition are determined.
