President Paul Kagame on Wednesday received Shawn McCormick, the Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Metals, a mining company operating in Rwanda, for high-level talks on investment and partnership opportunities in the country’s mineral sector.
According to a statement from the Office of the President, the meeting focused on expanding cooperation in mining, a sector seen as vital to Rwanda’s economic growth. Discussions centered on ongoing and future investments by Trinity Metals and how the company could further contribute to the development of Rwanda’s mineral resources.
Trinity Metals entered the Rwandan market in 2022 and has since invested over $40 million in its operations. The company currently runs several mining sites, including Nyakabingo and Rutongo, both of which produce tin, as well as Musha, where it extracts tin, coltan, and is conducting exploration for lithium.
The visit underscores Rwanda’s growing appeal to global investors in the extractive industries, especially as the country aims to position itself as a regional hub for sustainable and value-added mining.
