APR BBC defeats Orion to extend unbeaten streak to 12 games

APR BBC secured a 96-77 victory over Orion BBC, maintaining their unbeaten record in the Basketball Championship after 12 games.

The match took place on the night of Friday, March 28, 2025, at Petit Stade in Remera. It featured Jordan McRae, who played his first game for APR and drew significant attention as an NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.

The game started at a fast pace, with both teams exchanging baskets. APR led the first quarter 17-13. The intensity increased in the second quarter, with Aliou Diarra and Stubbs Tyrone contributing heavily to their teams’ scores. APR won this quarter 29-21, leading 46-38 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Orion’s Stubbs and Garba Kennedy continued to fight back, while Diarra and Jean Wilson Nshobozwabyosenumukiza kept APR in control. APR maintained their lead heading into the final quarter.

In the last quarter, APR extended their advantage through three-pointers from Adonis Filer, Uwitonze Justin, and Axel Mpoyo. Orion’s Belleck Bell and Garba attempted to close the gap, but APR emerged victorious, winning 96-77 and preserving their undefeated streak.

Stubbs Tyrone scored 25 points for Orion, while Aliou Diarra led APR with 20 points.

In another game, Tigers BBC defeated Espoir BBC 103-84.

The championship continues on Sunday, with APR BBC facing Azomco at 3:00 PM, UGB taking on Patriots at 5:30 PM, and REG BBC concluding the day against Tigers BBC at 8:00 PM.
