Love With Actions celebrates African Child Day

Love With Actions organization celebrates the International African Child Day and donated food and hygiene commodities to the families with children with disabilities.

The ceremony that took place in Bumbogo sector, Gasabo District at the organization’s headquarters was graced by local authorities at the sector’s level and healthcare providers who screened children and gave them medication to fight against worm infections.

Children were also given milk.

This year, Rwanda planned to celebrate the International African Child Day at the village level within ‘ISIBO’ with the theme: “Isibo, as a pivot to the child development”.

At least 47 families who are currently being supported by Love With Actions were donated food and hygiene commodities as well as face masks to help them survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gilbert Kubwimana, Country Director and Founder of Love With Actions showcased various activities they do for the sake of good welfare of children with disabilities and their families. These include Education and healthcare facilities (Therapy), vegetable gardens and milk cows that contribute to nutrition and growth of these children.

“We are happy for advocacy and mindset change of the citizens and parents in this neighborhood; we are looking on expanding our activities to be able to support more children with disabilities in other sectors of Gasabo district,” Kubwimana noted.

Ernestine Uwizeyimana, the mother of two children is one of the beneficiaries. She said: “one of my children was born with a disability of a big head ‘Hydrocephalus’, It was not easy to carry her on back and to hold her in the hands because she had too big head, Love With Actions helped me for her medical treatment and helped me with seed capital to start a small business and I am no longer facing a lot of challenges.”

Deo Rugabirwa, Executive Secretary of Bumbogo Sector appreciated the achievements by this organization and requested all the citizens to take care of all children with equitable rights and opportunities without discriminating children with disabilities.

“We started doing advocacy in partnership with love With Actions to help children with disabilities go to school and call up on parents to take all the children to school, many parents have changed mindset and we are continuing to do this as our responsibility.” Rugabirwa said.
