Rubavu: Rwf58 million car bought to further COVID-19 prevention measures

Rubavu District Administration has announced the purchase of a Rwf58 million vehicle, which will be used to deal with violators of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention guidelines.
Rubavu District Director of Public Works, Niyibizi Hubert said the Toyota Landcruiser vehicle will help them in monitoring the implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures, while renting a car was costing them much. —IGIHE Reports.
“This is a valuable initiative because this car is going to help us provide better services to the people by monitoring the implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures. It used to cost us a lot of money to rent different cars.”
He added that the car was bought for Rwf 58 million from the district’s income tax and that next year they will do another significant work from Rwf 3.2 billion tax they expect to generate.
Due to its nature, the vehicle will help Rubavu District officials reach high mountain areas, monitoring the implementation of COVID-19 safety regulations.
In 2019, the district also used tax revenues to purchase a hospital car ‘IMBANGUKIRAGUTABARA’ and handed it to Gisenyi Hospital.
So far, More than 15,000 people have been arrested in Rubavu District over violation of COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
