By Michel Nkurunziza.
The Ministry of Environment is pleased to remind media houses that applications for the Rwanda Green Growth Media Award are open until Friday 12 October at 5pm (Today).
The award recognizes outstanding journalists who contribute to advancing and raising awareness about green growth initiatives in Rwanda.
The award is being given in partnership with the Rwanda Governance Board and the Rwanda Journalists Association as part of the 2018 Development Journalism Awards.
The aim is to recognize and promote excellence and professionalism by awarding best-performing journalists and media houses.
The Rwanda Green Growth Media Award will shine a light on the efforts of reporters and media houses that report about sustainable development and raise awareness about challenges and opportunities in the environment sector as they relate to green growth.
The awards will be given to the Top Three journalists after careful selection by a panel against specific criteria.
The winner will be awarded a cash prize and have the chance to attend the UN Climate Talks taking place in Poland in December, known as COP24.
The First Runner-up and the Second Runner-Up will also receive a cash prize.
The Top Ten finalists will be invited to attend the Africa Green Growth Forum in Kigali from 26-30 November 2018.
The winners will be announced on 7 November 2018 during the celebration of African Day of Information and recognized at the Rwanda Green Growth Concert and Awards Ceremony during the Africa Green Growth Forum – a week long gathering of investors, policy makers and business leaders advancing the continent’s green growth agenda.
